REVIEW · SARAJEVO TOURS
Ultimate adventure
Adventure starts far beyond Sarajevo. This private eight-day journey links Bosnia and Herzegovina’s best outdoor challenges with its most memorable towns, from Lukomir village high in the Bjelašnica mountains to Mostar’s famous Old Bridge. I like the range: you get serious time outdoors, then meals, guides, transport, and city visits are handled for you. The main consideration is clear: this is not a gentle sightseeing holiday. You need moderate fitness and a taste for long, active days.
I also like the human side of the arrangement. Local English-speaking guides lead the hikes, bike rides, rafting, and canyoning, while overnight stays and meals keep the trip moving without constant planning. The drawback is the pace. A seven-hour bike ride, five-hour rafting trip, five-hour mountain hike, and seven-hour canyoning day can leave little energy for quiet wandering.

Five things that make this Bosnia adventure different

- A full route through Bosnia and Herzegovina: Sarajevo, Konjic, Lukomir, Boračko Lake, Prenj, Mostar, Počitelj, Blagaj, and Kravice Waterfalls all fit into one trip.
- Lukomir at 1,495 meters: You spend the night in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s highest inhabited village, a cultural heritage site reached on foot from Umoljani.
- Real outdoor variety: The program combines hiking, mountain biking, rafting, and canyoning rather than repeating one activity.
- A 23-kilometer Neretva rafting run: Equipment, transport to the river, swimming stops, photographs, and a grilled lunch are included.
- Strong trip organization: Airport pickup, activity transport, accommodation, meals, licensed guides, and specialist equipment are covered.
- A private format: Only your group takes part, with a minimum booking requirement of four people.
Sarajevo begins with old streets and Ottoman landmarks

The trip opens with arrival in Sarajevo, pickup, accommodation, and lunch in Baščaršija, the city’s old center. That is a sensible start. You can settle in with a traditional urban setting before the mountains take over.
The walking visit covers the old town, Gazi Husref-bey’s Mosque, the Gazi Husref-bey bezistan, Sebilj fountain, Sarajevo City Hall, the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, and the Latin Bridge, also known as Princip’s Bridge. Avaz Tower adds a modern viewpoint to the day.
This first stop gives the adventure useful context. Bosnia and Herzegovina is not only a place for rafting and rough tracks. Sarajevo’s religious buildings, market streets, and layered architecture show how several cultural traditions meet in one compact city.
You have lunch and dinner included, along with one drink at meals. Juices and other drinks cost extra, so keep some local currency or a payment method handy. The first night is in Sarajevo, and the next morning begins early with breakfast before heading toward Bjelašnica.

Four hours from Umoljani to Lukomir

Day two is the first real test of your legs. From Sarajevo, you travel to Umoljani on Olympic mountain Bjelašnica, then hike across Mount Obalj toward Lukomir.
The four-hour walk is rated medium intensity. The timing depends on your group’s pace, so do not treat the stated duration as a race target. You will see Bjelašnica and Visočica along the way, with open mountain views replacing Sarajevo’s streets.
Lukomir is the reward and the overnight setting. At 1,495 meters, it is the highest inhabited place in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is also recognized as an official cultural landscape and national heritage site, which gives the visit more meaning than a quick mountain photo stop.
Spending the night at the agency’s Farmville in Lukomir is one of the trip’s more distinctive touches. It puts you close to village life and removes the need to return to Sarajevo after the hike. The tradeoff is comfort and routine: this is an active rural stop, not a resort break. Ask about the room setup when booking if accommodation details matter to you.
Wear proper walking shoes, carry water, and bring an extra layer. Mountain weather can change, and the program moves through exposed countryside as well as paths.
Seven hours by bike to Boračko Lake
Day three shifts from walking to mountain biking. You leave Lukomir by mountain bike on a gravel road over Studeni Creek, passing through Umoljani again before continuing on an asphalt route over Visočica mountain.
The ride to Boračko Lake lasts about seven hours, depending on pace. That makes this a substantial cycling day, not a short scenic outing. You need to be comfortable spending much of a day in the saddle and managing changing road surfaces.
Boračko Lake is described as the mountain eye of Herzegovina, and the setting gives the day a calmer finish after the long ride. Lunch is arranged at a restaurant by the Neretva River, followed by dinner and an overnight stay near the lake.
The bikes, equipment, and licensed guide are included for this ride. That is important because you do not need to arrange a bike rental or work out the route yourself. Still, included equipment does not remove the need for basic cycling confidence. If you are new to mountain biking, this is the day to consider most carefully.
A 23-kilometer Neretva rafting run

Day four brings one of the trip’s headline activities: rafting on the Neretva. After breakfast, you go to the rafting base, collect the required equipment, and take organized transport to the starting point at Glavatičevo.
The rafting route covers 23 kilometers and lasts about five hours. You stop for photographs and swimming, then pause after the Small Canyon for a barbecue lunch with grilled meat and vegetables. The river is described as crystal-clear and drinkable throughout the rafting route, an unusual detail that says plenty about the appeal of this stretch of water.
The operator supplies the boat, paddle, neoprene suit, life jacket, shoes, and helmet. You need to bring your own swimsuit and dry clothes for afterward. That last point matters. Rafting is not a sit-dry activity, and the day includes swimming stops.
After the river, you have dinner and spend the night in Konjic. The arrangement does a good job of placing you near the next cluster of activities instead of sending you back and forth across the country.
A completely different kind of day:

Prenj brings a serious mountain day

Day five heads to Prenj, often called the Herzegovinian Himalayas. You travel to the Tisovica valley, then hike through conifer forest toward the Vrutak mountain house.
From there, a marked path climbs toward the Prenj peaks Otiš and Zelena Glava, continuing to the saddle between them. The walk lasts around five hours and is rated medium intensity. The phrase medium intensity should be read in context: it comes after hiking, biking, and rafting, so tired legs may make it feel harder.
Prenj is valued for its untouched mountain setting and demanding peaks. The route gives you a stronger sense of Bosnia’s high country than the easier city and lake stops. It is also a day where your footwear matters. The itinerary mentions a marked trail and conifer forest, but not the exact surface or elevation gain, so sturdy shoes and sensible layers are the safe choice.
You return to Konjic for dinner and another overnight stay. There is no need to pack for a new hotel every night during this central section, which makes the busy schedule easier to manage.
Seven hours inside the Rakitnica Canyon

Day six is the most physically adventurous part of the program. From Dubočani, you descend into the Rakitnica Canyon, described as the second deepest canyon in Europe.
Canyoning here involves swimming, underwater movement, climbing, floating, and jumps in selected sections. Small beaches provide short breaks for food and photographs. The full activity lasts about seven hours, with the final timing affected by group size and pace.
This is not simply a walk through a narrow gorge. You use your body in several ways and face changing obstacles along the river. The operator provides full canyoning equipment and a licensed guide, which is essential for an activity where route choices and river conditions matter.
The main caution is suitability. The experience is recommended for adventurous, athletic people with moderate fitness. It is not recommended for anyone with heart problems or other serious medical conditions. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult, but the broader challenge means families should judge fitness and comfort carefully rather than focus only on age.
You return to Konjic for dinner and a third night there. If you have any concern about water confidence, heights, or strenuous movement, raise it before booking, not at the canyon entrance.
Kravice, Počitelj, Blagaj, and Mostar by bike

Day seven returns to cycling, but the setting changes from high mountain roads to Herzegovina’s warmer cultural and natural sights. The route travels from Mostar toward Kravice Waterfalls, where you have lunch and free time for photographs.
Kravice is a natural feature rather than a museum stop, so this is a good chance to slow down briefly. The itinerary does not state the cycling distance or exact duration, so ask for those details if the bike portion is a deciding factor for you.
The return route includes Počitelj, a medieval Ottoman town on the left bank of the Neretva. Its stone buildings and hillside position make it a strong contrast to the modern city you began in. You then continue to Blagaj, a medieval town on the Buna River, before reaching Mostar.
In Mostar, the visit includes the UNESCO-listed Old Bridge, the old bazaar area of Kujundžiluk, Kriva ćuprija, and Karađoz-bey’s Mosque. Dinner and the final overnight stay are in Mostar.
This day is especially useful because it joins scenery with built heritage. You are not only pedaling between viewpoints. You are seeing how rivers shaped settlement, trade, bridges, and religious life across Herzegovina.
What the $1,110.85 price really covers

At $1,110.85 per person, the price is not a basic hotel-and-sightseeing package. It includes seven nights in three-star and four-star hotels, daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a lunch box, with drinks at meals limited to one included drink.
It also covers airport pickup, organized transport for planned activities, English-speaking professional guides, licensed activity leaders, mountain bikes and related equipment, hiking equipment, rafting equipment, and full canyoning equipment. City visits and entry stops at Boračko Lake and Kravice Waterfalls are part of the arrangement as well.
That makes the package easier to value. You are paying for a linked operation in which several specialist activities, transfers, meals, and overnight stays are arranged together. Booking each part separately would require more planning, especially for the rafting and canyoning equipment and the transport between mountain areas.
The price does not include your arrival in Bosnia and Herzegovina or your departure from Sarajevo, aside from the organized transfer to Sarajevo International Airport at the end. Souvenirs and extra drinks are also outside the package.
The airport transfer on day eight follows breakfast. The overall experience is advertised at approximately eight days and eight hours, while the listed plan is seven nights and eight days. Treat the schedule as a full week with a final airport transfer, and confirm flight timing before you book.
The people and the private format matter
The strongest practical feature is the level of organization. Pickup, activity transport, accommodation, meals, and equipment are all coordinated, allowing you to focus on the next trail or river rather than solving transport problems each morning.
The guides are described as helpful, friendly, and professional, with the organization taking care of the group from airport pickup through the activities and meals. That kind of support matters more here than on a standard city tour. A canyoning day or mountain route is far easier when the person leading it knows the area and manages the equipment.
This is a private experience, so only your group participates. That gives you more control over pace and group atmosphere than a large shared departure, although each person still needs to keep up with the agreed activity schedule.
A minimum of four people per booking applies. Vegetarian meals are available if requested when you book, and passport name, number, expiry date, and country are required for every participant.
Who should book this adventure?
I would recommend it to an active group that wants Bosnia and Herzegovina in one concentrated trip. It suits people who would rather hike to a remote village, ride mountain roads, raft a long river section, and canyon through a dramatic gorge than spend a week beside a hotel pool.
It is also a good fit if you value organization. The package removes much of the work involved in connecting Sarajevo, Bjelašnica, Konjic, Prenj, Mostar, and the Herzegovinian sites.
I would not choose it for a relaxed cultural holiday, a first-ever outdoor trip, or anyone who dislikes early starts and long activity days. The itinerary leaves little empty time, and the physical demands build across the week.
Before booking, confirm the exact bike distances, room arrangements, equipment sizing, and daily start times. Those details can shape your comfort even when the main program is already fixed. Free cancellation is available up to 24 hours before the experience begins, but changes or cancellations inside that window are not accepted for a refund.
Should you book the Ultimate Adventure?
Book it if you want a packed Bosnia itinerary with real outdoor challenge and reliable logistical support. The combination of Lukomir, Prenj, the Neretva, Rakitnica Canyon, Kravice, Počitelj, Blagaj, Sarajevo, and Mostar gives you a broad look at the country in eight days.
Skip it if you want slow mornings, flexible sightseeing, or mild activity. The best value comes when you actively use the included guides, equipment, meals, and transfers. For a fit group of at least four people, this is a strong way to see Bosnia beyond the main city streets.
